“Hang On, Sloopy” – The McCoys
This one was a vehicle for a VERY young Rick Derringer, who as I understand it, was pulled
in after the song was recorded. At 16 he laid down a Rock ‘n Roll classic vocal and guitar,
then went on to be a very formidable force in rock ‘n roll with Edgar Winter’s White Trash and
on his own. We’re still trying to figure out our cheap release angle so we can do either “Keep
Playin’ That Rock ‘N Roll” or “Free Ride”. We’ll probably add “Frankenstein” to our song list
because, as Rock music’s only instrumental #1 hit we have our ‘cheap excuse’.
